Over 1000 schools have accessed our strategic leadership course, which guides school leaders through a strategic review of their use of teaching assistants, using change management theory, and examples and lessons learned from successful schools.

MITA is designed for headteachers and senior leaders. It can be delivered across three half-day sessions, paced over two terms:

  • Session 1: setting out the evidence on TA impact introducing the key principles of the MITA approach; conducting a self-evaluation; and setting a vision

  • Session 2: using self-evaluation data; MITA principles in depth: what they look like in the classroom; practical strategies and ideas; action planning

  • Session 3: review, sharing areas of good practice and lessons learned; planning for the future.

Each school receives a comprehensive pack of high-quality resources and tools to support the processes of review and implementation.

MITA is typically organised by a host school and delivered locally, allowing multiple schools to come together during the sessions to share practice. Individual schools can contact us for a bespoke programme of support.

MITA can include access to an audit tool for leaders to self-evaluate, evidence and review their progress, designed and hosted by Evaluate My School

The core MITA training programme is delivered across 3 sessions, and additional sessions and schools visits can be commissioned to support school leaders in review, staff training and evaluation.

Core training is priced at £1,995+VAT for up to three schools, and then £550 for each additional school.

Each school will receive two places for Leaders in each session, access to resources, training and review materials, and a copy of the Maximising the Impact of Teaching Assistants handbook (phase specific). From January 2023 this can also include a one year school subscription to the MITA audit tool* at Evaluate My School at a reduced cost based on number of participants.

MITA can be delivered across full day sessions or linked to deployment visits for each school. Larger host organisations, such as local authorities, multi-academy trusts, federations and teaching school alliances can contact us to discuss cost and a personalised programme of support.

Depending on location reasonable travel and accommodation costs may be agreed on commissioning. Bespoke costings can be arranged for delivery outside the UK.

MITA schools can commission a TA Review and access our MPTA CPD for TAs and teachers.
